A DEXA scan gives you a comprehensive snapshot of your current state of wellness. It’s a better measure of total health.
Schedule a DEXA scan online or call 701-751-2974. Please note DEXA scans must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. You’ll receive a health history questionnaire via email that must be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Please note: DEXA Scans will only be performed on clients ages 21+.
For questions or further information please email Callie, Registered Nurse at callie.stein@proximal50.com
Pricing:
- Initial Scan + Interpretation* | $99
- Follow-up Scan** | $75
- Follow-up Scan** + Re-Interpretation* | $85
*Scan and Interpretation appointments are two separate appointments.
** Follow-up scans can only be done every 6+ months. The DEXA uses very low-dose radiation technology AND real, sustainable results take time. Progress is best measured every 6-12 months with a DEXA scan.
BODY COMPOSITION
Not only does the DEXA give the most accurate body fat measurement available, it differentiates between subcutaneous (essential) fat and visceral (dangerous-to-your-health) fat. It then takes it a step further and shows where in your body you tend to hold excess fat.
Why is all this important?
- It’s a better way to measure progress than stepping on scale! You may only loose a few pounds but could be changing your body composition without even realizing the positive impacts that has on your overall health.
- It helps you set better goals. Shift your mindset away from the scale and towards measurements like body fat or lean muscle mass.
- It will give you a better understanding of what’s realistic for your body. Simply aiming for a low body fat % is not the goal.
RESTING METABOLIC RATE (RMR)
Your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is the minimum amount of calories your body needs to function (heartbeat, breathing rate, and brain activity). Exercise and other daily activities will increase the amount of calories your body needs. Consuming less than your daily caloric need for extended periods of time negatively impacts your metabolism, immune system, and other essential functions of the body. Consuming amounts in excess of what your body needs (factoring in activity & exercise in addition to your RMR) causes weight gain and other metabolic health conditions.
We see just as much over-restriction as we do over-consumption. If you’ve lost weight or are trying to loose weight by restricting calories, it’s important to understand your RMR and how your caloric needs change with weight loss and body composition changes so you don’t end up over-restricting.
Eat to fuel your body – do you know how much fuel your body actually needs?
BONE DENSITY
The benefits of regular exercise are sometimes hard to see – like improvements in bone mineral density. A DEXA scan provides a way to measure progress for those that need to build or maintain body density. If you have osteoporosis or osteopenia – regular scans will help give feedback to make sure your exercise habits are helping.
